Types of Screen Sharing

Screen Sharing allows you to make a presentation directly from your computer without downloading anything. It is possible to share:

  1. Your Entire Screen: participants will see everything on your desktop. Check the option “Share with Audio” if you want to share a local video, for example. Note that share with Audio is only available on Windows. On Mac and Linux, you can share your browser tab with audio instead.
  2. A specific Application Window: participants will see only the selected Window, especially if there are information you do not want them to see on your desktop such as a PowerPoint presentation. If you want to share your browser, they will see the navigation bar and all tabs. If you want them to prevent seeing your tabs then the best choice is to Share a Browser tab. Because of privacy restrictions, it’s not possible to share with audio using Application Window.
  3. Browser tab: only one single tab will be shared and if you switch your tabs they won’t see it. It’s very suitable for sharing video with audio. If you want to share with audio, check the option “Share with Audio”. Make sure to watch the video tutorial to learn how to switch between the tabs.

You can also share your screen with audio or without audio. You will need to share with audio if you have a media file to play for your audience from the desktop. To share screen with audio, use Entire Screen or Chrome Tab. You will see a checkbox Share with Audio at the footer of the screen share window.
