How to Delete, Download, and Send Direct Messages in the Chat

GoBrunch rooms include a built-in chat that you can use during meetings, events, classes, or casual conversations.

Inside the chat, you can:

  • delete the public chat history

  • download the chat history

  • send direct messages to other participants

Let’s go through each option.

Accessing the Chat

Inside your room, you’ll see the chat available in:

  • Dynamic Mode

  • Presentation Mode

Once the chat panel is open, you can manage messages and settings from there.

How to Delete the Public Chat History

If you want to clear the public chat:

  1. Open the chat panel

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the chat window

  1. Click the trash icon 🗑️

This will delete the public chat history inside the room.

⚠️ Keep in mind:
Deleting the chat history affects the public room chat for everyone.

How to Download the Public Chat History

Want to save a copy of the conversation?

Here’s how:

  1. Open the chat panel

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the chat window

  1. Click the cloud download icon ☁️

The public chat history will download automatically.

This is useful for:

  • saving meeting notes

  • keeping classroom discussions

  • reviewing event conversations later

How to Send Direct Messages

You can send private direct messages to other participants inside the room.

There are two ways to do it.

Option 1: From Your Friends List

  1. Open the chat panel

  2. In the top menu, click the card icon (Direct Messages)

  1. Click on View Friends

  1. Select the person you’d like to message 💬

Your conversation will open in a private direct message chat.

Option 2: Message Someone Inside the Same Room

If the person is currently inside the same room as you, you can message them even if they are not your friend yet.

Here’s how:

  1. Click on My View

  1. Switch from Dynamic Mode to Presentation Mode

  1. Click on View Room Attendees

  1. Select the participant you want to message

Once you send a message, that conversation will remain inside your Direct Messages list.

Even if the participant goes offline later, you’ll still be able to continue messaging them from your existing conversation.

Adding Someone as a Friend

If you want to add someone as a friend instead of only messaging them:

  • the person must currently be online

  • and inside the same room as you

This is different from direct messages, which can continue even after someone leaves the room.

Important to Know

⚠️ Direct messages are private and separate from the public room chat.

⚠️ Public chat actions like deleting or downloading do not affect your private direct messages.

⚠️ You can message participants directly from the room even if they are not yet in your friends list.

⚠️ Friend requests can only be sent while the other participant is online in the same room.
