Understanding Sleeping Tabs in Web Browsers
When using GoBrunch for video conferencing, you might notice that the tab becomes inactive or refreshes after a period of inactivity. This is often due to the "Sleeping Tabs" feature in recent versions of web browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, aimed at saving system resources.
For Google Chrome Users
Disabling Memory Saver Feature
- Open Chrome: Launch your Google Chrome browser.
- Access Settings: Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, then select "Settings".
- Find Performance: Navigate to the "Performance" section.
- Toggle Memory Saver: Locate "Memory Saver" and turn it off.
- Restart Chrome: Close and reopen Chrome to apply changes.
Adding Exceptions
- Open Settings: As before, access Chrome's settings.
- Go to Performance: Find the "Performance" section.
- Enable Memory Saver: Turn on the Memory Saver feature.
- Add GoBrunch: Click "Add" and enter "gobrunch.com" to keep it active.
For Microsoft Edge Users
To manage the Sleeping Tabs feature in Microsoft Edge and keep GoBrunch always active, follow these steps:
Disabling Sleeping Tabs
- Launch Edge: Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Access Settings: Type
edge://settings/system
in the address bar and press Enter. - Find Sleeping Tabs Option: Look for the "Save resources with sleeping tabs" setting.
- Toggle Off: Switch this option to Off.
- Restart Edge: Close and reopen Microsoft Edge to apply the changes.
Adding Exceptions for GoBrunch
- Open Settings: Again, go to
edge://settings/system
. - Enable Sleeping Tabs: If you prefer to keep the feature on, ensure it is enabled.
- Add GoBrunch to Exceptions: In the section where you can specify sites to never put to sleep, add "gobrunch.com". This will keep the GoBrunch tab always active, even when the Sleeping Tabs feature is on.
By adjusting these settings, GoBrunch will remain active in Microsoft Edge, avoiding disruptions during video conferencing sessions.
